No Greatness Without Belief

You can be the greatest human in the world, however if you don’t believe that, you won’t feel anywhere near the greatest.

No matter what your goals, aspirations or dreams are, you can achieve them. And when you achieve them, even the smallest thing, you should give yourself at least a pat on the shoulder.

Because if you don’t pat yourself on the shoulder for every small milestone you’ve reached, how are you going to pop champagne when you’re in a place that was a ‘dream’ just recently?

What a lot of people are chasing is greatness in one way or another. But that greatness is not worth anything, if you don’t think you’re great. So what people are really chasing is being content with what they did.

Are you?

Doesn’t matter if you’ve gone far in your journey, or if you’re just starting out (like I am), are you content with what you did so far?

And, honestly, I think either answer is good. But there’s a line to be drawn here.

If you are content with what you did so far, good. Though most likely, you don’t have as much drive to do more as someone who answered ‘no’ to this same question.

And now to the people who answered ‘no’, do everything you can so that you can say a confident ‘yes’.

And now addressing everyone. No matter what, keep doing what you want to do, and never forget doing what has to be done.

In all your doing, recognize that it’s work, and recognize that you deserve at least a pat on the back, and one day you’ll deserve to pop that champagne to celebrate a big achievement.

But, no matter how great you are, don’t try and put yourself above others. In other words, be careful with your pride. It can bring you up just as much as it can bring you down.

Being proud of yourself will give you the confidence you need, but pride can also make you seem insecure about your own greatness.

“Pride is a master of deception: when you think you’re occupied in the weightiest business, that’s when he has you in his spell.” — Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

Though I firmly believe most people reading this won’t have this problem. Still, it’s good to keep in mind and remain humble even when you’re on top of the world.

And you’ll be on top of the world only when you give yourself the satisfaction of feeling on top of the world.
